LAWLER CAMPAIGN OUTRAISES TOP THREE DEMOCRATS COMBINED WITH 1.1 MILLION HAUL

October 8, 2025

Pearl River, NY – October 8, 2025… Today, the Lawler for Congress campaign announced their strongest off-year Q3 haul, raising approximately $1.1 million and ending the quarter with $2.8 million in cash on hand. Powered by nearly 10,000 donations, the campaign continues to build the broad, bipartisan coalition needed to win and deliver for the Hudson Valley. Year-to-date, the campaign has raised over $3.9 million, shattering records set last cycle.

“The results are crystal clear: our message is winning and our ground game is unmatched,” said Chris Russell, spokesman for Lawler for Congress. “Meanwhile, the Democrats vying to run against us keep sprinting left. Just look at Peter Chatzky, a candidate defined by radical anti-Israel positions and his endorsement of Zohran Mamdani, totally out of touch with Hudson Valley families who want common-sense leadership that delivers tangible results, not performative extremism.

“While our opponents trip over themselves to appease a far-left base, Mike Lawler is building a coalition of working families, labor, law enforcement, Republicans, independents, and mainstream Democrats who are fed up with chaos politics and radical extremists. Congressman Lawler delivered on SALT, secured historic tax relief for middle and working class families, and will keep focusing on common-sense solutions that make life more affordable and Hudson Valley communities safer,” concluded Russell.

PETER CHATZKY IS TOO RADICAL FOR THE HUDSON VALLEY

September 8, 2025

Pearl River, NY – September 8, 2025… Today, the Lawler for Congress campaign slammed Peter Chatzky for embracing the radical, anti-Israel agenda of Zohran Mamdani — an extreme position that is completely out of touch with Hudson Valley voters.

In a recent interview with Jewish Insider, Chatzky accused Israel of violating U.S. arms sales law and suggested America should suspend arms sales to our closest ally in the Middle East. He also refused to clearly condemn Zohran Mamdani, a self-proclaimed socialist who has refused to disavow calls to “globalize the intifada,” instead claiming Mamdani has “tremendous support” and “understands” how to protect Jewish New Yorkers.

“Peter Chatzky can’t have it both ways,” said Lawler for Congress spokesman Chris Russell. “You can’t call Israel a critical ally one minute and then accuse it of breaking U.S. law and call for suspending arms sales the next. And you can’t claim to stand against antisemitism while cozying up to Zohran Mamdani, a radical who refuses to disavow extremist calls for violence.”

“New York’s 17th District has one of the largest Jewish constituencies in the country. Voters here know who stands with Israel and who doesn’t. Congressman Mike Lawler has been unwavering in his support for Israel and in fighting antisemitism, while Peter Chatzky is openly embracing positions that put him far outside the mainstream. The bottom line is simple: Peter Chatzky is way too radical for the Hudson Valley,” concluded Russell.

ICYMI: Politico: Why this swing seat House member is doubling down on Trump’s megalaw

August 21, 2025

Thursday, August 21, 2025

Pearl River, NY… In case you missed it, on Monday, Nick Reisman at Politico reported on Lawler for Congress unveiling a 5-figure digital ad campaign promoting the wins delivered for middle and working-class families in the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Politico: Why this swing seat House member is doubling down on Trump’s megalaw

Rep. Mike Lawler is releasing a series of ads highlighting aspects of the law as Democrats look to flip his seat.

By Nick Reisman

NEW YORK — Republican Rep. Mike Lawler is betting big on President Donald Trump’s controversial megalaw — embracing the tax-and-spend package with a series of five ads as he runs for reelection in a pivotal swing district.

The commercials represent the first time that any House Republican — no less a vulnerable one like Lawler — is touting the measure on the airwaves directly to voters, according to the House GOP’s campaign arm. And he’s focusing on Medicaid provisions in the law that he expects will prove popular, countering Democratic attacks over health care spending cuts.

“The reason why Democrats are messaging the way that they are is because they’re trying to frame this as they often do — class warfare — as opposed to the specifics,” Lawler said in an interview. “It’s important as we head toward next year to not lose the message on this, but actually explain it to voters in a way that they understand.”

The tactic is a gamble for a battleground district lawmaker whose election next year is considered crucial for maintaining GOP control of the House. If successful, the move stands to become a national blueprint for selling voters on the sweeping legislation, which polling suggests is broadly unpopular.

Lawler will unveil the ads today, which trumpet the measure for having “strengthened the Medicaid program” through work requirements for adult recipients and prohibiting undocumented immigrants from “ripping off New York taxpayers.”

A different ad highlights lifting the cap on state and local tax deductions from $10,000 to $40,000. The change is a key measure that blue state Republicans, including Lawler, pushed for in negotiations. Another ad touts an increase to the child tax credit and eliminating taxes on Social Security for many recipients — all framed as a way to address affordability concerns.

In another spot, Lawler says he voted for the legislation “because it invests in Main Street, not Wall Street” by lowering federal tax rates and making it easier for businesses to be passed down.

Lawler’s campaign said about “five figures” will be spent on the ads, which will appear on digital platforms like YouTube.

He believes Republicans need to set the terms of the debate now, more than a year before the midterm elections.

“You have to be on offense, you have to be explaining what you did and why and articulate the case,” Lawler said. “The progressive left is never going to support anything Republicans do. I had folks booing tax cuts, but they’re going to benefit from it as well. It comes down to the middle and where does the middle fall.”

Pearl River, NY… 7/23/2025 – Congressman Mike Lawler today officially announced his campaign for re-election to represent New York’s 17th Congressional District during an exclusive appearance on Fox and Friends. Lawler, recognized as one of the most bipartisan and effective lawmakers in Congress, reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for New York families and addressing the nation’s critical issues.

“Serving the Hudson Valley has been the greatest honor of my life, and I’m proud of the wins I’ve delivered for New York and the American people. From delivering historic tax relief, raising the SALT cap, securing our border, and strengthening our national security and America’s role in the world, to passing groundbreaking crypto legislation to reaffirm the United States as the leader in the digital economy, I’ve shown what’s possible when you put common-sense solutions above partisan politics,” stated Congressman Lawler.

Lawler also highlighted the disaster that Kathy Hochul’s administration has been to New Yorkers, pointing out the opportunity Republicans have to flip New York.

“Under Kathy Hochul, New York has the highest taxes, the worst business climate, and leads the nation in outmigration. In short, Kathy Hochul is the worst Governor in America and must be defeated in 2026,” continued Congressman Lawler.

“Over the past six months, I have given considerable thought as to how I can best serve New York — whether in Albany or Washington. While I fundamentally believe I am best positioned to take on Kathy Hochul and offer New Yorkers a real choice for Governor, I have made the decision to run for re-election to the House and continue the important work I’ve been doing over the past two and a half years.” In conclusion, Congressman Lawler said, “There’s more work ahead, and I remain focused on putting New York families first.”

Pearl River, NY – July 10, 2025… Today, the Lawler for Congress campaign announced that Congressman Mike Lawler posted another outstanding fundraising quarter, bringing in more than $1.3 million in Q2, making him once again a top fundraiser among candidates for competitive districts in the House.

Congressman Mike Lawler is in the best position yet to defeat whichever far-left radical emerges from their chaotic primary.”

Congressman Lawler represents New York’s 17th Congressional District, which includes all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.

Lawler Campaign Demands Answers – Will Dems in Race for NY-17 Back Radical Socialist Zohran Mamdani?

Wednesday, June 25, 2025

Pearl River, NY… Today, the Lawler for Congress campaign demanded an answer from the 7 Democrats running against him: Will They Support Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Nominee for Mayor in NYC?

“The residents of New York’s 17th Congressional District deserve a straight answer from the Democratic candidates who are running – will they support Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for NYC Mayor?” said Chris Russell, campaign spokesman. “Will these Democrats do what Kathy Hochul did and look the other way, or will they be brave enough to call out Zohran for what he is – a radical, antisemitic socialist hellbent on destroying New York City?”

“To Beth Davidson, Cait Conley, Peter Chatzky, Mike Sacks, Effie Phillips-Staley, John Sullivan, and Jessica Reinmann, now is the time to let the voters of the Hudson Valley know – do you support Zohran Mamdani?” concluded Russell. “If your answer is silence, we can safely assume you’re comfortable with backing an antisemitic socialist who wants to defund the NYPD, stop cooperation with ICE, and make New York City less safe.”

CONGRESSMAN LAWLER SLAMS KATHY HOCHUL FOR HELPING RADICAL SOCIALIST MAMDANI WIN NYC MAYORAL PRIMARY

June 25, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wednesday, June 25, 2025

Pearl River, NY… Today, Congressman Lawler slammed Kathy Hochul and New York Democrats for embracing a far-left socialist for NYC Mayor. Congressman Lawler calls on them to immediately clarify if they endorse Zohran Mamdani and his policies, including:

“Last night, Kathy Hochul and New York Democrats embraced the absolute worst of their party. A radical, antisemitic socialist was just elected to be the Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City – and Kathy Hochul didn’t lift a finger to stop it from happening. On Kathy’s watch, millions of hard-working taxpayers have fled New York State, and now the exodus will begin from New York City as Zohran Mamdani runs it into the ground,” stated Congressman Lawler.

“A self-avowed socialist who wants to defund the police, globalize the intifada, and tax people into oblivion is poised to become New York City’s next mayor, all because of Kathy Hochul’s gross incompetence. The only way we can stop it from happening is by rallying around the Republican candidate for Mayor – Curtis Sliwa. His long record of service to the city of New York is a far cry from Zohran’s trust fund upbringing, and Curtis will serve the people of New York with dignity and respect, regardless of their race, religion, background, or creed,” continued Congressman Lawler.

“And make no mistake – Kathy Hochul and NY Democrats will pay the price for this insanity at the ballot box next November, when we elect our first Republican Governor since George Pataki. I call on Kathy Hochul and all New York Democrats to immediately state if they endorse Zohran Mamdani for NYC Mayor, and all the radical socialist policies he has endorsed on his campaign,” concluded Congressman Lawler.

ICYMI: Capital Confidential: Lawler has the best shot at beating Hochul, polling analysis finds

June 4, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wednesday, June 4, 2025

Pearl River, NY… In case you missed it, Dan Clark at Capital Confidential reported on a leaked memo from Deep Root Analytics suggesting Rep. Mike Lawler is in the best position of any Republican in New York State to challenge Kathy Hochul. The memo also notes that New York is an anomaly, as their national modeling shows that New York has continued to shift to the right since October 2024.

Capital Confidential: Lawler has the best shot at beating Hochul, polling analysis finds

By Dan Clark

A new polling memo that’s making the rounds among Republicans in New York and Washington, D.C., could spell good news for U.S. Rep. Mike Lawler.

Lawler is one of at least two Republicans seriously considering a run for governor in New York next year against whoever wins the Democratic primary. The other is Rep. Elise Stefanik, a top conservative ally of President Donald J. Trump.

But the polling memo found that may not be to Stefanik’s benefit if she decides to run.

“Bearing in mind the volume of moderate voters in the state, it’s clear that a moderate Republican with a track record of delivering bipartisan state and local victories is best positioned to compete with a Democrat in a gubernatorial general election scenario,” said the memo from Deep Root Analytics, a firm often employed by Republicans.

That’s because of the firm’s findings on how voters said they identified politically between five ideological buckets: MAGA, traditional conservative, moderate, traditional liberal and progressive.

A plurality of voters — 26% — identified as moderate, while 17% said they were a traditional conservative and 15% said they fell into the MAGA camp, the memo said.

Stefanik is not viewed among Republicans, or political observers in general, as a moderate. She’s closely aligned with Trump and, consequently, has strong support from conservatives and the MAGA movement.

She received a 48% favorability rating from conservatives in the most recent Siena poll. But self-identified moderates only gave her a 23% favorability rating.

Lawler received a 22% favorability rating from moderates in that poll but had a larger share of voters who had no opinion of him — 52% vs.39% for Stefanik. That gives Lawler more room for his numbers to grow.

Here’s a translation: Lawler and Stefanik can both appeal to conservative voters. But Lawler would appeal more to moderate voters than Stefanik, the polling memo from Deep Root Analytics said.

“Lawler’s track record with this voter type — paired with his consistent focus on winning local bipartisan messages … give credence to a viewpoint that suggests Lawler is better positioned to compete in a statewide gubernatorial general election than any other Republican in New York,” the memo said.

If he wants to prove that point, he’ll have some ground to make up. The Siena poll from last month had Stefanik ahead of Lawler in a primary by 13 points.

“So we are putting the pieces together,” Stefanik said in a radio interview Tuesday. “If we do this, this will be the most well-funded, the most well-organized statewide campaign since when we last won with George Pataki.”

Let’s separate fact from fiction on my commitment to Medicaid

April 17, 2025

Op-Ed | LoHud
By Mike Lawler

Regarding “Republicans in Congress — like NY’s Mike Lawler — think Medicaid doesn’t matter,” lohud.com, April 10:

There are several important things readers of this opinion page need to know regarding the dishonest op-ed that ran here recently lying about my position on Medicaid, among other things.

First, consider the source of these attacks and their motives for lying about me. There were two co-authors of the piece: One is the leader of a radical far-left organization that supports extreme policies like mass release of prisoners (including violent ones), and the other is an avowed socialist who recently said she was “excited” about a candidate for Mayor of New York City who wants to defund the police. Both of them support the absurd sanctuary state and city policies that have turned New York into a beacon for illegal immigration and rising crime.

Now, onto the substance of their false attacks. Let me be crystal clear: I have consistently lived up to my pledge never to cut Medicare or Social Security. In fact, last Congress, I helped champion passage of the Social Security Fairness Act to end the unfair reduction of benefits for millions of Americans, including teachers and police officers. Now, they are collecting more of their hard-earned money to help with their retirement.

Likewise, I will never cast a vote that takes Medicaid away from eligible recipients who rely on this vital program, such as seniors, children, the intellectually and developmentally disabled, single mothers and families facing tough times. Rather, my commitment has always been to strengthen these programs by cracking down on scam artists exploiting them at taxpayer expense.

This isn’t just a political position; it’s deeply personal to me. My father battled cancer and several other health issues before passing away at age 54. Along the way, he and my mother depended on Social Security Disability to make ends meet and live with dignity. I know firsthand how these programs are lifelines for families in need. That’s why reading accusations — from two people I’ve never met — claiming, without any evidence, that I am “salivating to gut funding” for healthcare is so offensive. I am all for a good debate, but I will not sit silently by and allow people to lie without pushing back.

So, why the dishonest attacks and disregard for the truth? Simple — fringe elements have hijacked and radicalized the Democratic Party. These aren’t disciples of President John F. Kennedy or even my current constituent, President Bill Clinton. Instead, they are members of extremist groups like Indivisible Rockland and others who care more about the rights of violent criminals, gang members and illegal immigrants than they do working families and retirees in the Hudson Valley and beyond. If you work hard and play by the rules, you’re the bad guy — and your punishment is to sit down, shut up and pay more taxes to fund a bloated, corrupt government that creates dependence instead of opportunityand favors endless government handouts to lawbreakers instead of a compassionate hand-up to good people in need.

Consider the facts. A 2024 Empire Center for Public Policy study revealed that as many as three million people are collecting Medicaid in New York State despite potentially being ineligible due to incomes that are higher than the eligibility limit — costing taxpayers of up to $20 billion annually. Wouldn’t that money be better spent supporting low-income seniors, single mothers, the I/DD community and children instead of padding a corrupt system? I think so.

Worse, New York has spent billions on Medicaid for undocumented migrants. That’s not sustainable, and it’s not fair to American citizens, especially those facing tough times, but who are too proud and honorable to scam the system themselves. These are the men and women we must prioritize. These are the men and women who deserve our compassion. These are the men and women I am fighting for in Congress.

That’s why I am advocating for common-sense reforms like work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents, shifting eligibility verification to a quarterly review from the current annual review system, and ensuring benefits don’t go to ineligible recipients, including illegal immigrants. These steps aren’t about denying care to anybody. To the contrary, it is about directing resources to those who need it most.

The broader fiscal picture demands action, too. As I wrote in the New York Post on March 3, the federal government is projected to spend over $86 trillion in the next decade, with our national debt already topping $36 trillion, and expected to rise to $59 trillion. This trajectory risks collapsing Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security and will leave future generations without support. If we are to keep the sacred promises made to the most vulnerable among us, we must restore fiscal responsibility.

I urge New Yorkers to reject the lies and smears pushed by extremists — including my growing list of potential 2026 opponents — who care more about keeping people in poverty and exploiting them to advance their own radical political agenda. We can — and must — balance fiscal discipline with our social obligation to ensure these programs remain solvent long into the future. That is the path forward and I am committed to working with commonsense Democrats and Republicans to get it done.

Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican, represents New York’s 17th Congressional District.

LAWLER CRUSHES FUNDRAISING GOALS, OUTPACES ALL DEMOCRATIC CHALLENGERS COMBINED
